Final Scrimmage a good tune-upPosted Saturday, September 06, 2008 by Eric Scammons The Tigers faced off against Agawam and former Superbowl foe Milford in a Tri-scrimmage Friday night. After a slow start, the Tigers stilfed both offenses holding them scoreless after a TD on Milford's initial drive. On offense, the Tigers found a good balance of run, pass and screens to score on the ground, through the air and in the kicking game. Ben Desmarais scored first for the Tigers on a 65 yard screen play on 3rd and long. After running over two would-be Agawam tacklers, Ben was treated with a personal escort to the endzone by senior guard Jason Kluza and center Mike Chieco. As the game progressed, QB Sam Belsky converted two key third down passes to Aaron Sabbs to keep drives alive. In the second quarter of game situation play, backup Jason Bourque hit Matt Roy with a 30 yard strike on the sideline to set up the final score. Coming out of a timeout with 5 seconds to play, Bourque's screen pass to TE Shane Burns found it's mark as stellar blocking by the O-line allowed Shane to ramble untouched into the endzone. The touchdowns were highlighted by Justin Dizek's extra point kicks and a field goal from 25 yds.
The Junior Varsity also got into the endzone when Zak Guenther connected with Sean Bouthiller on a 40+ yd. pass play. The Tigers now prepare for the Battle of the Bridge against AA foe Holyoke High School. |
